The DT4579-QZ is a DEWALT EXTREME 38mm Self-Feed Forstner wood drill bit with three extra-sharp cutting edges, designed for rapid drilling of clean, accurate flat-bottomed holes in hardwood, softwood, wooden boards, and plasterboard. The self-feed design uses a threaded pilot point that pulls the bit through the material, reducing the cutting force required from the operator and enabling faster drilling without excessive pressure.
Three extra sharp cutting edges — outer rim cutters and a centre point — deliver clean, splinter-free hole entry and exit, making Forstner bits the preferred choice for hinge drilling, shelf pin holes, dowel boring, and cable routing applications in cabinetry and joinery. The optimised cutting angle delivers longer bit life, and the superior heat treatment provides maximum durability in demanding wood drilling applications. The 38mm diameter is used for larger cable grommets, plumbing boss holes, lock face holes, and similar medium-large diameter flat-bottomed hole applications in timber and panels.
The 11mm (7/16-inch) quick-change hex shank enables fast, tool-free bit changes in cordless drill chucks and bit holders. The open tooth design allows for easy resharpening to extend working life. Compatible with all standard drill chucks and cordless drills.
