Description
The ABB MS116-0.63 is a manual motor starter and protector providing motor protection and manual switching for three-phase motors with a full-load current setting of up to 0.63 A. Part of ABB’s widely used MS116 series, this device combines motor overload protection, short-circuit protection, and manual isolation in a single compact DIN rail-mounted unit, eliminating the need for separate circuit breakers and overload relays in small motor feeder circuits. The adjustable current setting allows the installer to match the device to the exact full-load current of the motor being protected.
The MS116-0.63 complies with IEC 60947-4-1 and IEC 60947-2 and provides Class 10 tripping characteristics suitable for standard squirrel cage induction motors. It incorporates a bimetal thermal overload element and electromagnetic short-circuit release, providing co-ordinated overload and short-circuit protection for the motor and its feeder cabling. The manual operator provides isolation capability up to the rated interrupting capacity, supporting safe maintenance access to the motor and associated equipment without the need for a separate isolation switch.
Compatible with a range of ABB accessories including auxiliary contact blocks, alarm contact blocks, and motor protection voltage releases, the MS116-0.63 can be expanded for signalling, remote tripping, and monitoring applications. It mounts directly onto 35 mm DIN rail and is suitable for use in control panels for small pumps, fans, conveyors, and other light-duty industrial motor applications.
