The ABB PSR30 is a 30 A electronic soft starter for three-phase induction motors up to 15 kW at 400 V, providing controlled motor acceleration that reduces inrush current demand and mechanical starting shock to the driven load. As part of ABB’s PSR range, the PSR30 offers a balance of performance, simplicity, and compact size appropriate for the 15 kW motor size used in a wide range of pumping, ventilation, and process applications in industrial and commercial installations. The adjustable initial voltage and ramp time settings allow the start profile to be optimised for the specific application.

Built to IEC 60947-4-2, the PSR30 mounts on standard 35 mm DIN rail and is designed for integration into standard control panel assemblies. Its thyristor-based voltage control circuit provides smooth voltage ramping from a user-adjustable initial level to full supply voltage, protecting the motor and mechanical systems from the shock of across-the-line starts. The use of a bypass contactor after motor run-up is recommended to optimise the thermal performance of the soft starter and prolong the service life of the thyristor components.
