The ABB PSR60 is an electronic soft starter rated at 60 A for three-phase induction motors up to 30 kW at 400 V, delivering controlled voltage ramp starting to protect the motor and mechanical systems from the stresses of direct-on-line starting. Part of ABB’s PSR series, the PSR60 is designed for the 30 kW motor size used in large pump and fan drives, compressor installations, and heavy process plant motor control applications. The soft start reduces the starting current to a controlled ramp, minimising voltage dips on the supply network and reducing mechanical shock to driven loads such as pumps, fans, and conveyors.

Compliant with IEC 60947-4-2, the PSR60 mounts on standard 35 mm DIN rail in industrial control panels. The adjustable initial voltage and start ramp time enable the start profile to be tailored to the application, and a bypass contactor is recommended for continuous operation. The thyristor switching technology provides smooth, stepless voltage control during the starting period, and the device is designed for reliable performance in demanding industrial environments with the ambient temperature and duty cycle conditions typical of industrial motor control applications.
